Save Money on a Tight Budget

Saving has become a number one priority in today’s economic downturn. Learn to be creative, frugal and develop some additional sources of income. Find and use discounts and coupons.

Here are the ways you can save money:

Made saving money a reward. Changing spending habits and realize that every dollar you put in savings is a reward and makes you feel good about myself. Save coupons and use them for their great discounts for groceries, pet food, restaurants and more.

Take on an additional income stream and stash that money away solely to your savings.  Sell on eBay, to hobby income, part-time jobs etc.

Save your change every day.  Start dropping your change into a jar at the end of each day.  A small amount adds up over the course of a month. Discipline yourself to go one or two days without purchasing sodas, snacks and candy. Reward yourself and drop that money into the change jar.

It’s easier to save a dollar. One day at a time.  Put one dollar to 5 dollars into savings each day rather than wait for the end of the week. It’s easier to put save a little each day than having to drop a whole 20 at the end of the week.

Make a game of it.  Challenge yourself to see how much money you can drop into savings.  Find ways to cut back on fuel, eliminate trips or having a friend pick things up for you when they are going to be close by.

Make things yourself with what you have on hand.  Make your own post cards, appointment books, etc.  and print them out. Make notepads out of scratch paper and find new uses for things you would have thrown away.

Don’t count my money.  Leave the money that’s in the in the jar in the jar. Don’t count this money the then end of the months budget. Remember. This money is for saving.

Those are the ways to save more money on a limited income.  They don’t add up to a much by themselves but when you add them all together at the end of the month the amount can really surprise you. Small amounts add up quickly.
